Deep Blue CEO responds to SL03 fire while driving

On August 21, a video of a traffic accident involving a dark blue SL03 model attracted widespread public attention. The video content showed that during the driving process, the vehicle accidentally touched a hollow floor tile, causing the floor tile to crack and tilt, which in turn penetrated the battery pack at the bottom of the vehicle and caused a fire. The occupants of the vehicle responded quickly and immediately opened the door to escape the scene.

In response to the incident, Deep Blue CEO Deng Chenghao released an official statement through an online platform in the early morning. He detailed the specific cause of the accident: the tire of the vehicle accidentally ran over a hollow and damaged stone brick, which tilted up and hit the chassis of the vehicle hard, causing the vehicle to leave the ground and hit the ground hard. During this period, the sharp part of the stone brick pierced the baseplate of the battery pack, directly damaging the two batteries, which caused the battery to catch fire. Due to the serious damage to the battery baseplate, the sealing was lost, and finally caused a visible flame under the chassis.

Deng Chenghao also stressed that despite this unfortunate incident, the super-range-extended golden bell battery system equipped with the Deep Blue SL03 demonstrated the safety performance in its design. After the open flame caused by the damaged battery appeared, the flame automatically extinguished in just 25 seconds, and only two batteries were affected, effectively ensuring the safety of the lives and property of the drivers and passengers. When the accident occurred, the built-in system of the vehicle and the big data security platform in the company’s background immediately triggered the alarm, and the Deep Blue team immediately contacted the owner to confirm the safety of the entire accident handling process.

In addition, Deng Chenghao also mentioned that some of the videos circulating only took clips of the fire, ignoring the key process of the vehicle being hit and emptied and the subsequent open flame self-extinguishing. Therefore, he hoped that through this statement, the true situation of the accident can be fully restored to the public.
