Dongfeng Peugeot will launch the 408 hatchback version with 1.6T/year-end listing

According to the plan previously released by PSA Group, the new EMP2 modular platform will be located in Shenlong’s third factory this year, and most of the existing domestic models will be replaced based on this platform. As the first model of the platform, the new generation has been officially unveiled, and the car is expected to be officially launched in September. Recently, Netcom News Agency learned from insiders that after the launch of the new generation 408 model, Dongfeng Peugeot will also launch a 408 "hatchback version", which will be officially launched at the end of this year. The new car will be differentiated from the new generation 408 to meet the different needs of more consumers.

Based on the new EMP2 platform, the Dongfeng Peugeot 408 launches a hatchback version

During this year’s Beijing Auto Show, Dongfeng Peugeot released a new generation of 408 models. After being developed on the basis of PSA Group’s most advanced EMP2 modular platform, the new generation 408 models have been comprehensively improved in body size, configuration and power system compared with the older models. After launching the sedan version, Dongfeng Peugeot will focus on the 408 sedan version. It is expected that the new car will be the same as the ordinary version in appearance, but the design style will be more sporty to meet the needs of consumers of different age groups.

408 hatchback version with a new power system, comprehensive weight reduction

This year is the second year of Dongfeng Peugeot’s "Blue Plan", and three new models, including the new 408, will be launched to promote the growth of the Dongfeng Peugeot brand. Lv Haitao, general manager of Dongfeng Peugeot, once told Netcom News Agency: We will launch a new generation of 408 models this year, which is not a simple facelift. "Compared with the old Dongfeng Peugeot 408, the new car will be equipped with a new 1.6THP + 6AT power system, which will improve the power performance of the current model. At the same time, the vehicle will also use more lightweight technology, and the new car will lose 150 kilograms on the existing basis, further improving the fuel economy of the vehicle.

Competing with Volkswagen’s MQB EMP2 platform to push a variety of replacement models

It is understood that the EMP2 platform, as the latest modular platform of PSA Group, adds a higher ratio of steel and aluminum to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle. At the same time, future models based on this platform will also add technologies such as engine start-stop system (STT) and electric power steering, thereby comprehensively enhancing the competitive strength of the brand’s models. According to the plan of PSA Group, the modular platform will be used in the production of five major series of products in the future, which will be compact cars, sports cars, commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles and commercial vehicles. In terms of Dongfeng Peugeot, after the new platform is officially put into production, models above 308 will be based on this platform for replacement models.
