When law enforcement officers inspected a hotpot restaurant in Zijin Street, Guang ‘an District, Guang ‘an City, they found that it was beneficial for the kitchen to recycle oil and process it into "gutter oil".

After investigation, in order to save costs, the chef Pu Moumou used kitchen waste and waste oil to manufacture and sell waste oil. At present, Pu Moumou was transferred to Guang ‘an District Procuratorate for examination and prosecution by public security organs for producing and selling toxic harmful food.

It is understood that since October 2019, the Public Security Bureau of Guang ‘an City, Sichuan Province has launched a special campaign to crack down on illegal and criminal activities in the fields of "health products" and "gutter oil". Up to now, the public security organs of Guang ‘an City, together with the market supervision department, have conducted 56 inspections on major hot pot restaurants in the city, seized 20 suspected illegal and criminal cases of gutter oil, and arrested 23 suspects. Among them, 8 cases have been handed over to the procuratorate for review and prosecution, and other cases are under further investigation.
